Unsatisfied with 19, Greg Minnaar pushed through another week of challenging conditions to capture his 20th World Cup victory, further etching his name into the record books.

After a disastrous opening the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup moved onto stop number 2 of the tour in Fort William; a tried and tested classic that never fails to deliver nail biting racing.

The drama began early as series leader Rachel Atherton went down during practice and injured her shoulder, ending a two and half year long winning streak and leaving the women’s field wide open.

Talk was high in the pits regarding the dreaded new wood section as it claimed riders all weekend long. Was it too difficult? Should it have been changed? The debate raged on.

With Atherton out an opportunity arose. Tracey Hannah captured it quickly, taking the win and with it the leaders jersey.

Vergier looked good through practice and hopes were high after he qualified second. Unfortunately he would crash in finals, and will have to wait another week for a chance to show his potential abroad his new team.

Week after week, Brook Macdonald impresses with his all out aggressive riding style. Brook would finish 19th, a good result but you can be sure he wanted more.

Danny’s a constant threat for the win at Fort William. A crash would eventually derail the World Champion’s hopes of a good result.

After three broken collarbones in 18 months, Jack Moir was ready to quit. This weekend he finished 2nd, earning his first world cup podium, a truly deserved reward for his perseverance.

Three victories in a row and seven in total, Greg Minnaar is officially King of Fort William. Swap that 42 plate for 1.
